At Stop Calling Things Gay, we are focused on changing parts of our culture. We want to end the usage of "gay" in a negative context.

New Movie - IN THE NAME OF

IN THE NAME OF, winner of the Teddy Award at the Berlin Film Festival and named a "Must See" by Indiewire, opens at the Screenland - Crown Center on Friday, November 1. The film follows Catholic priest Adam as he struggles with his identity as a priest and a gay man. Aside from it being a gripping film, IN THE NAME OF also helps to provide perspective and raise awareness concerning issues that are often overlooked. Directed by Malgoska Szumowska and starring Andrzej Chyra, IN THE NAME OF is already taking international audiences by storm, and is positioned to do the same in the states.

PFLAG Founder Jeanne Manford To Receive Posthumous Citizens Medal

PFLAG founder Jeanne Manford, who passed away last month at the age of 92, is to be posthumously awarded the 2012 Presidential Citizens Medal by President Obama in a ceremony at the White House on February 15.  The medal is America's second-highest civilian honor.

Missourians for Equality Kickoff Event

Missourians for Equality is a non-partisan Political Action Committee with a goal of eliminating LGBT discrimination in the state of Missouri.  Several PFLAG-KC members will be in attendance at their kickoff event at Hamburger Mary's from 3-5 PM on Saturday, January 19th and one member will share her story at 3:30.  We hope you will tell your friends and come join us.

Missourians for Equality is currently working on collecting enough signatures by May 2014 to get a proposal on the November 2014 ballot that would expand the definition of discrimination to include sexual orientation and gender identity.
