PFLAG Founder Jeanne Manford To Receive Posthumous Citizens Medal

PFLAG founder Jeanne Manford, who passed away last month at the age of 92, is to be posthumously awarded the 2012 Presidential Citizens Medal by President Obama in a ceremony at the White House on February 15.  The medal is America's second-highest civilian honor.

Missourians for Equality Kickoff Event

Missourians for Equality is a non-partisan Political Action Committee with a goal of eliminating LGBT discrimination in the state of Missouri.  Several PFLAG-KC members will be in attendance at their kickoff event at Hamburger Mary's from 3-5 PM on Saturday, January 19th and one member will share her story at 3:30.  We hope you will tell your friends and come join us.

Missourians for Equality is currently working on collecting enough signatures by May 2014 to get a proposal on the November 2014 ballot that would expand the definition of discrimination to include sexual orientation and gender identity.

The Kansas Legislature is considering a bill that will have the effect of wiping out all local non-discrimination laws and policies.
